KAMELOT Guitarist On Upcoming Tour, New Videos And Forthcoming Album
January 9, 2008KAMELOT's official web site has been updated with a brand new interview with KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood. It reads as follows:
Q: How are things going in the KAMELOT camp?
Youngblood: "All is well here, we are winding down from lots of holiday cheers and partying. It's been a nice but short break for us to recharge the batteries for some intense months coming up."
Q: Next months of April/May you will be touring Europe for second time with the Ghost Opera World Tour. What can we expect from these shows?
Youngblood: "Well, we expect some crazy, hot nights with the best fans in the world. Some of the shows in the larger venues will have pyros and extra staging. It will be our most extensive live tour so far. We are adding some new songs to the setlist, so we have some intense rehearsing to do."
Q: What plans do you have after this European tour? Any plan for touring North America again or another part of the world?
Youngblood: "There have been talks about touring the U.S. and Canada after the summer festivals. Other countries have been mentioned as well and we are waiting the confirmation on that before any announcements."
Q: We know you will shoot a third video supporting "Ghost Opera". What can you tell us about this?
Youngblood: "We leave in a few days for the shooting of two new videos from 'Ghost Opera', 'Rule the World' and one more. Once again we will go to Belgrade for the next video and the script is very cool! We hope to have pics from the scene for the fans to see."
Q: I love your acoustic ballads and you have many on your career. Have you thought playing acoustic shows? It will be a great idea for a new DVD...
Youngblood: "We had hoped to do this on the last tour but the timing did not work out. I would like to do this as well as a concert with an orchestra. These things take time and money to plan and do right."
Q: You are endorsed by ESP Guitars. Can you explain us which guitar equipment you use for studio/live and why?
Youngblood: "I use ESP Eclipses and Horizons. I have a Viper but my faves are the ones mentioned. I also use Strats, Les Pauls in the studio. Sascha has a great Gold Top LP that we use sometimes. For live it's very important that the guitar is comfortable and not too heavy. A 90 minute plus concert is like a marathon and I don't want to carry around a boat anchor... haha!"
Q: I see the band is growing each day more in popularity. My theory about this is that you are composing fantastic songs, a great support in the Net and that you take care of all your fans in a special way. Are you agreeing with me?
Youngblood: "Thanks, man, we cherish the fans. There is a unique soul and energy to the KAMELOT fans that is like no others. Some of the concerts are like religious experiences, it's really something we look forward to every night. Our philosophy is to always do the best we can with the time and money we have. That goes for composing, videos, artwork and live shows."
Q: Are you working on a new studio album?
Youngblood: "We are slowly working on new ideas, I have installed a new studio here and once the kinks are out I can start writing more. There is no timetable, we will not release a new record until we are ready and there is still a lot of touring and things going on for 'Ghost Opera'."
Q: Thanks for giving us some minutes for answering this exclusive interview. Your last words for the Kamelotians...
Youngblood: "Many thanks to all of you and we hope to see everyone with their voices on the upcoming touring!!"
